ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS
What are anti-wrinkle injections?
Anti-Wrinkle Injections are the UK's number one method for treating fine lines and facial wrinkles. Wrinkles are caused by repeated facial muscle contraction. Anti-Wrinkle Injections work by temporarily relaxing the muscles responsible for causing lines and wrinkles, by preventing the nerve signaling the muscle cells to contract. Anti-Wrinkle Injections work well in reducing the appearance of dynamic wrinkles (lines which appear when smiling or frowning) and softening static wrinkles (which remain regardless of facial expression).
Which areas can be treated?
Frown lines, forehead lines, lines around the eyes (crow's feet), lines at the sides of the nose (bunny lines), and lines around the lips are the mostly commonly treated areas. However, in recent years more clients are choosing this treatment to lift and reshape the brow, slim the jawline (Masseter), and to reduce the appearance of a gummy smile. Also, anti-wrinkle injections can be used to lift a droopy smile (DAO) and reduce dimpling of the chin.

Downtime/ Aftercare
The great thing about anti-wrinkle injections is that they do not require any downtime and clients are able to resume their normal daily activities immediately.See our patient information aftercare advice leaflet below.
Are anti-wrinkle injections safe?
Whilst anti-wrinkle injections have been rigorously tested for many years and have a robust safety record globally, no injectable treatment is risk-free. We recommend that you always seek an appropriately trained and skilled medical professional to administer any injectable treatment.
What will happen on the day of treatment?
Firstly your appointment will begin with your Aesthetic Practitioner listening to what you would like from the treatment and discussing what you are trying to achieve. Following this, the Aesthetic Practitioner will conduct a dynamic assessment of your face; analyzing the way the muscles are moving and contributing to lines and wrinkles on the skin's surface. Recommendations will then be made regarding which areas can be treated to reach your desired outcome. You and the Aesthetic Practitioner will then agree on a personal treatment plan based upon your concerns and objectives, facial anatomy and medical history.
Once the Aesthetic Practitioner has taken your pre-treatment pictures and you have signed your consent form the treatment will begin. The Aesthetic Practitioner will use ultra-fine needles to inject the areas required to achieve your desired look. The procedure itself involves only minor discomfort and takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes. At Refresh London Medical Aesthetics we invite our patients back after two weeks for a review and make any fine adjustments where necessary. During this consultation our client's post-treatment photos are taken. Following up with our clients is a vital part of the treatment and does not incur any extra charge.
What to expect after treatment?
Immediately after treatment, there may be some localized redness, mild swelling, and/or bruising at the injection site, this usually subsides within 24- hours but may take longer in some individuals. Weakening of the injected muscles begins to be apparent after a few days with the peak effect being reached 2 weeks after treatment.
How long do results last?
Treatment results last approximately 5-6 months, depending on the area treated.
